Planetary Attributes and Energies

The attributes of the Sun and planets are described here in the context of their energies when amplified through the conjunction with the Moon. It may be beneficial to think of these energies as the basic colours on an artist’s palette. When mixed, they change and create different effects.

By understanding a planet’s basic attributes and energies we can use planetary transits to make positive changes in our life and grow towards reaching our full potential.

Sun

Key attributes: Primary life force, consciousness, ego, personal identity, vitality, stamina, purpose, creativity

Moon conjunct Sun (New Moon)

Many farmers still plant by the New Moon because it has proven effective over the millennia. The New Moon offers extra energy for growth. We can use that extra energy to facilitate our personal growth, particularly if there are planets also aligned during the New Moon phase.

Because the Sun is our primary life force, it influences every part of our being and is an essential ingredient for every aspect of our growth. By including the New Moon in our synchronised meditation regime our efforts become much more productive.

NASA image of Mercury

NASA image of Mercury

Mercury

Key attributes: Communication, intellect, reasoning, analysis, interpretation, understanding, philosophy, influence, memory, mental acuity, curiosity, pursuit of knowledge.

Moon conjunct Mercury

Mercury’s energies enable us to interpret and understand the world around us, including our place in the Universe. Mercury improves our powers of communication including our ability to communicate with the Intelligent Universe. (Think of it as googling the Intelligent Universe for answers.) Enhancing our powers of communication also improves our intuition (Neptune) and psychic (Uranus) gifts.

We can use our improved communication powers to better define our objectives in life. Furthermore, we are much more empowered to achieve those objectives when we understand the ‘how’ and the ‘why’ of the forces at work around us.

Because Mercury only takes about 12 weeks to orbit the Sun, there are more opportunities to align the Moon, Mercury and the Sun than there are with other planets. In so doing, when the Sun’s energies are merged with Mercury’s energies and further amplified by the Moon, the opportunity for their absorption are even greater. Couple these opportunities with effective meditation practices and we have the potential for improved communication at all levels. When the Moon is aligned with Mercury and Mercury is between us and the Sun, the effects are even more pronounced. (Similar benefits arise when the Moon and Mercury are aligned with Ophiuchus and Orion, especially for extended periods including while Mercury is in retrograde.)

NASA image of Venus

NASA image of Venus

Venus:

Key attributes: Happiness, joy, self-confidence, affection, harmony, peace, healthy relationships, material comforts, financial security, beauty, good taste

Moon conjunct Venus

We can all benefit from more happiness and joy in our lives and a lack thereof can lead to serious, negative consequences. As social beings, Venus’ energies make for a better, more peaceful world around us, be it in the family, with friends, our community or the world at large.

When we have peace, harmony and self-confidence we are more optimistic and much better equipped to move forward in life.

Because Venus is not an Outer Planet, we can’t benefit from any amplification of its energies by Jupiter or Saturn. We can, however, use the Moon and the Sun’s intense energies to good effect when Venus is between us and the Sun.

NASA image of Mars

NASA image of Mars

Mars:

Key attributes: Energy, passion, aggression, competition, boldness, strength, survival, illogical, capricious, impatient, divisive, conflicting, disorderly

Moon conjunct Mars

You may feel that Mars’ attributes are counter-productive to life as we desire it. Good. There are, however, people who will benefit by having increased levels of energy, strength and controlled aggression. Like it or not, there may be times when, for the sake of survival, it is necessary to display these attributes. The key is in how they are used. Effectively channelled, and balanced with other Galactic Energies, these energies can contribute to accelerated advances.

If you feel apathetic or complacent, maybe you need some of Mars’ energies.

If you are, by nature, overly aggressive and impatient, maybe you need to focus on other Galactic Energies such as those of Venus and Saturn. Remember, an excess of Mars’ energies can lead to conflict and illogical decision-making which, in turn are ultimately destructive. (You might have to go through another life to get these energies in balance … and that might be somewhat uncomfortable.)

NASA image of Jupiter

NASA image of Jupiter

Jupiter:

Key attributes: Abundance, good fortune, expansion, amplification

Moon conjunct Jupiter

The Moon amplifies Jupiter’s attributes. If you are seeking these, then the alignment of the Moon with Jupiter presents an opportunity to harness the Galactic Energies associated with Jupiter. Be careful, however, what you wish for. If you choose to not use these gifts for the higher good, they may disappear, causing you considerable grief.

The most effective way to work with the Moon and Jupiter is synchronise your meditation to coincide with their alignment and with another celestial body. In so doing, you can absorb extra energies associated with that body because Jupiter amplifies its energies which, in turn, are further amplified by the Moon. (The gravitational lens effect produced by both Jupiter and the Moon helps concentrate those energies.) The effects are even more pronounced if Pluto’s catalytic energies are involved as they contribute to deep, long-term transformation.

NASA image of Saturn

NASA image of Saturn

Saturn:

Key attributes: Rewards and punishment, discipline, restriction, structure, rules, limitations.

Moon conjunct Saturn

Saturn may best be described as the wise and respected teacher – the Celestial Teacher. Saturn offers rewards and punishments to encourage the student to develop towards his/her ultimate purpose, i.e., to grow into a mature citizen of the Universe.

It is instructive to describe the characteristics which such a citizen will display. They include: integrity and authenticity; determination, tenacity; patience; strength of character; virtuosity; responsibility; generosity; balance, perspective; pragmatism; optimism; conscientiousness; compassion and empathy; right-living (including healthy living); self-discipline, self-control; unselfishness; humility; endurance; righteousness (pure, not self-righteousness; honourable and trustworthy; truthful and honest; fights for, promotes, justice, esp. for the disadvantaged; constancy and reliability; ethical; benevolent; non-egotistical; and, most importantly, in harmony with the Universe.

If you genuinely desire to grow, you must seek to attain these attributes and to use them for the higher good.  This becomes possible if you absorb energies by synchronising your meditations with the Moon’s alignment with Saturn. These energies are further amplified when Jupiter or the Sun are also aligned with the Moon and Saturn, especially when Plutonic energies are in the mix.

A word of caution: The Celestial Teacher also disciplines the student when necessary. If, for example, you are not using your attributes for the higher good, be prepared serious discomfort. This becomes even more apparent when Pluto’s energies are involved. Whilst Pluto introduces long-term transformation, re-birth and metamorphosis usually involves some pain. (No pain, no gain.) Be grateful that the Universe cares so much for you as to teach you valuable lessons while on this journey.

Saturn’s lessons also apply to humanity at large.

NASA image of Uranus

NASA image of Uranus

Uranus

Key attributes: Prophesy, miracles, enlightenment, visionary, futuristic, surprise, inventive & innovative, ‘out of the box’ ideas and insights, creative, unconventional, originality

Moon conjunct Uranus

If you’re ready to explore new, ‘out of the box’ ideas and tap into your psychic powers to imagine the future, with all of its surprises, the conjunction of Moon with Uranus(R) is the time to start. By conceptualising and re-imagining the future you’ll be able to comprehend ‘what might be’.

These concepts can then be used to influence your direction in life as you begin to embrace the possibilities that await you and humanity. It may prove to be somewhat scary at first, but better to be prepared. In an ever-changing world, it pays to be one step ahead of the game.

Try using your synchronised meditation sessions to enquire of the Intelligent Universe as to what the future holds. Go into the sessions with considered questions. One of the most relevant questions is, of course, ‘what’s my purpose?’. If you don’t know what questions to ask, as the Universe beforehand to reveal the most appropriate questions to ask. Don’t anticipate the answers … be ready for some surprises. (Don’t forget to use a journal to capture the questions and answers.) When combined with Neptune’s energies (especially intuition), you can take better control of your destiny while also helping those around you to navigate a way forward in life’s journey.

NASA image of Neptune

NASA image of Neptune

Neptune:

Key attributes: Spiritual, esoteric, intuition, metaphysical, pure love, empathy, cosmic consciousness, creative imagination, aesthetic appreciation, anthesis of structured logic, intangible, illusion, vagueness, genuine desire to help others including by resolving social issues

Moon conjunct Neptune

An alignment of the Moon with Neptune presents one with an opportunity to absorb these galactic energies and develop Neptune’s attributes which are essential for our development towards maturity as one in harmony with the Universe. (Increased intuition enables one to ‘tune in’ to the Universe and become more conscious of the actions which should be taken to move forward.)

If you already have well-developed spiritual gifts, maybe you need to question whether or not you are applying those gifts for the higher good. If you haven’t be overly endowed with these gifts, not to worry. Either way, you can start soaking up these energies during your synchronised meditation sessions.

For anyone that is serious about growing into a mature citizen of the Universe, this is an essential talent that needs regular attention and cultivation. Being complacent risks encountering negative consequences.

Moon – Neptune sessions also present powerful occasions to communicate with the Intelligent Universe by asking questions, making requests and showing gratitude. By being open to the Universe, especially during these sessions, you may receive significant insights to help in your development. (Be sure to prepare in advance with your questions and requests. Be sure to keep a journal and use it to good effect.)

NASA image of Pluto

NASA image of Pluto

Pluto

Key attributes: renewal, re-birth, metamorphosis, regeneration, evolution, transformation, re-balancing, resetting and truth-revealing.

Moon conjunct Pluto

All influences apply to both the individual and the collective. Planetary aspects involving Pluto may be linked to major individual and societal changes including political, economic, sociological and environmental change where there is excess which needs re-balancing (bursting the bubble). In association with other conjunctions, Pluto may be the catalyst to precipitate those changes.

When the Moon is aligned with Pluto, you can harness these amplified energies to progress your journey towards citizenship of the Universe.

These energies influence every aspect of our being, i.e., physical, mental, spiritual. If you want to accelerate your progress, synchronise your meditation with this alignment. (Check out the Orientation and Timing, and Synchronised Meditation pages.)

As with any change, there can be an element of discomfort such as ‘growing pains’.  It the case of Pluto, you may experience the pain of losing those parts of your being which are hindering your development. You need to consider the negative energies you are currently carrying. If you are unaware of what they may be, ask the Universe to reveal them to you. You’ll get an answer – maybe in the early hours of the morning, just as you’re waking up in the morning or when taking a casual walk. Don’t ignore the answer when it arrives.

Pluto also works on re-balancing. If you have excess in your life, don’t be surprised if that excess is confronted, especially if the excess is distracting you from your real purpose in life. If, for example, material possessions or power are not being applied appropriately, you may find them taken away. (Maybe you have been blessed with considerable material possessions, or power, as part of a test that the Universe has set for you. Use them for good, i.e., helping mankind, and you’ll continue to grow into citizenship. Use them for a selfish agenda, you may not pass the test and have to learn some difficult lessons either later in this life, or in another life … if you’re lucky.)

If you’re serious about your personal growth, you’ll need to reflect on these negative energies. You probably know what you have to do. If you have unforgiveness, anger, hate, etc, you know you have to let go. (Not always easy, but you need to start. Remember, if there is a person who is the focus of your negative energies, that person is also the product of his/her heritage, environment and Galactic Energies. Maybe the reason you encountered that person was to provide you with an opportunity to learn and grow. Maybe you need to thank the Universe for the opportunity to learn and grow as a result of that experience.)

If you are uncertain as to how to resolve these negative energies, ask the Universe.

If you’re not up to confronting these issues, this is a time for caution. Maybe you should avoid absorbing Pluto’s extra energies at this time if you’re not serious about change. Don’t worry, the Universe will persist … hopefully. (A gardener doesn’t keep seeds from all the flowers in the garden. If they have no potential for improvement, they simply go in compost together with the weeds.)
